Wow -
it's already time for basketball season! This is a great thing for us,
because we are the sole food concessionaires for THS Basketball, and we get ALL THE MONEY for our Band Program - yay!
Here's how it works:
- Every student who is part of a Tigard High Band performing ensemble is required to work concessions at least once during the basketball season. This includes:
- Jazz Band
- Concert Band
- Symphonic Band
- Wind Ensemble
- Percussion Ensemble
- Fall Marching Band
- Winter Guard
- Winter Drumline
- Students who enjoy concessions work may work more than one shift, but may not sign up for additional shifts until everyone has signed up once. Scholarship recipients are encouraged to work more than one shift. There are 18 total opportunities during the basketball season - 6 per month.
- Parent-types are required at each concession event. One is OK - two are better.
- Games are on Tuesdays and Fridays, with games Wednesday and Saturday during the 1st week in December. Shifts typically begin at 4:30pm and finish around 9ish. Adults may arrive by 5:30, if schedules conflict.
- McKee opens each concession event.
- A Closing Team is essential to the success of our concessions events. The Closing Team is made up of 2 - 4 adults who are trained in closing procedures, who work just a few games each (with a much shorter time commitment!). One member of the Closing Team will come to THS toward the end of the game to coordinate the concessions workers in putting away all food, supplies, etc. and the cleanup of the concessions stand. This should take only 30-45 minutes. (Being a member of the Closing Team is a GREAT way to COMPLETELY AVOID actually selling any hot dogs or nacho cheese!)
- Please know that a reliable Closing Team will allow McKee to not have to cover closing 18 concessions shifts. That would be very nice. Please consider being part of this group.
- Concessions signup sheets have been posted since Wednesday November 27 in the Band Room, with slots for 3-4 students and 1-2 parent-types for Tuesday games and 4-5 students and 2-3 parent-types for Friday double-headers.
