Acceptable Use Policy for
Tigard High Marching Ensemble
Participants
(Marching
Band, Winter Guard, Winter Drumline, Cadet Drumline)
Participants in the
Tigard High School Marching Program are held to a high standard of personal
conduct that includes but is not limited to the policies of the Tigard/Tualatin
School District “Student Rights & Responsibilities Handbook”, which states
that Tigard High students have the right “to express themselves verbally, in writing (or)
electronically… in such a way that they do not violate the rights of other
individuals or groups,” and
“to attend school in
an atmosphere free of verbal assaults (and) ridicule.” THS students also have the responsibility
“for
the effects of their expressions on other individuals or groups. They must
follow school policies. Verbal assaults… are prohibited.”
To this end, it is
the expectation that anyone connected to the Tigard High Marching Ensembles
(students, instructors, directors, Boosters, etc) will use electronic
communication such as social networking forums (i.e. Facebook, Instagram,
Snapchat, Twitter, etc.), emailing, texting, YouTube postings, etc. for only
positive comments regarding Band, Band-related activities, and Band-related
people (including fellow band-mates, instructors, other bands, band programs,
and judges).
