It’s time for the annual Tigard High Band Booster Garage Sale!

So we can’t rehearse right now, and we can’t perform right now, but we CAN raise money so that we’re ready to go when restrictions are lifted! And the Band Boosters have everything ready to go.

It’s happening THIS WEEK, Friday and Saturday August 21 and 22. You KNOW you want to help, so here’s how:

  • Any and all band adults - current and former - are welcome and needed. Band students may also help, but must sign up and work with their adult – COVID rules. Band graduates are considered adults.
  • Setup begins at 7am Friday morning. Want to set things up? We’ll provide breakfast afterward. And we can probably do the same for Saturday setup!
  • Everyone who is involved in any aspect of setting up, working at the sale, cleaning up, etc MUST wear a mask (properly) at all times and maintain a minimum 6’ distance from all others who are not members of their immediate family. No hugs, no high fives, etc. Workers will also wear disposable gloves.
  • The church will allow us to use a designated restroom but it will have to be sanitized after each use. There will be three times through the day that the church will be open for workers to use the restroom.
It's incredibly important that the Band Boosters have enough help to make this garage sale a success. We usually have the Marching Band do the setup on Friday, so this is going to be challenging. Please, arrange your calendar so that YOU can help. And we're not asking anyone to do anything we're not willing to do - I arranged to have someone else cover my Packed with Pride distribution shift on Friday so that I can spend the day at the sale. Not tooting my horn here - just showing that it can be done.

CLICK HERE to sign up. And feel free to sign up for multiple shifts.

Let's do this!

PS - We need LOTS of folding tables. Do YOU have some that are available? CLICK HERE to send an email with the details.

OSAA Adjusted 2020-21 Activities Calendar

Hey friends - OSAA announced this afternoon that the typical Fall activities will now be shifted to March and April. This move has been made so that there will be the opportunity to still have traditional Fall sports (football, soccer, volleyball), if public health conditions allow. What does that mean for us? I anticipate that NWAPA will set up a Spring show schedule, again with the caveat that public health conditions allow. Yay!

Stay tuned, and please - WEAR A MASK AND STAY SOCIALLY DISTANT FROM ANYONE WHO IS NOT A MEMBER OF YOUR IMMEDIATE HOUSEHOLD! Let's get this virus under control!

August 3 Notice

Hey Band friends – the news we knew was coming has arrived. Per TTSD, all extra- and co-curricular activities have been cancelled until further notice. So that means no Try-It-Outs, no practices, and no Band Camp. I know – it hurts. But we have to be as safe as we can during this ongoing pandemic.

The District has not identified a date for the potential return to activities and will follow the guidelines of the Oregon Department of Education, the Oregon Health Authority, and the Oregon School Activities Association.  One intriguing suggestion is that OSAA might follow the lead of WIAA (Washington) and move fall sports to the spring. If so, NWAPA has indicated a willingness to have some sort of Spring Marching Band season, and if they do, you KNOW we will do everything we can to be there. And we’re holding our breath for the Winter season – Winter Guard, Winter Drumline, and maybe even Winter Winds! But before that can happen, everyone has to follow what the scientists say.

Please, make sure that you, your friends, and family members all stay socially distant from everyone who is not a member of your immediate household, and wear a mask whenever you are in public. Let’s get this virus under control, so that we can return to what we love!

Wait - What??

OK, that ending to our school year was So. Abrupt. It feels like we all have a little emotional whiplash. Wow.

So, now that we know we won't be gathering together again this year, what's next?
  • Social distancing
  • Distance learning
  • Zoom meetings
  • Google Hangouts = Google Meet
  • Lots of YouTube music
  • Disney+
  • Hallmark Movies
  • Comfort food
  • Watching the THS Construction Cam (CLICK HERE!)
  • And, thinking about next fall!
Assuming we can do what we love to do in the fall, please be assured your marching band staff is going to make sure that we are ready to hit the ground running - whenever that is advisable. So, I need to know who to include, as the Tigard High Marching Ensemble prepares to defend our 12th Class A title! Are you with us? If so, CLICK HERE to email McKee and we'll include you and your instrument/equipment in our planning! (And how about your musical friends? And your friends' friends? LET'S RECRUIT!!)

YAY MARCHING BAND!!
